Come with me, my love
03:02
|

Come with me, my love
We’ll go out to the field and see what the earth has borne
We won’t till the soil this year,
just wonder and the wonder that we see there
Come with me, my love, I’ll show you all my favorite wildflowers we can eat
Come with me, my love we’ll build a house for us under the olive trees
Look at the sun, feel how it warms your face, though the air around you is cold
Lay on the Earth, feel how it holds your face, if you make a little space for your nose
Come with me my love,
I wanna write a song that will make us dance with both feet in the air
Come with me my love,
We’ll lay down for a while ‘til grass and ants creep up into our hair
Come with me, my love
I’ll tell you things I never said to anybody else before
Com``e with me, my love
We’ll hike down the mountaintop and hike down ‘til we reach the seashore
Look at the sun, feel how it warms your face, though the air around you is cold
Lay on the Earth, feel how it holds your face, if you make a little space for your nose
Come with me, my love
Let’s pack our bags to go away for weeks and then stay home instead
Come with me, my love
We’ll cook a meal for kings and eat in our pajamas in the candlelight
Come with me my love,
We’ll sit by the fireside and read fairy tales ‘til the morning light
Come with me, my love
It won’t always be like this - but at least let’s let it be like this tonight

Amphibrach Dance
Remember, first falling, and falling,
from lofty, from distant, from dizzy
cliff’s slim ledge, yes falling, through clear, not
blue-burned air, yet falling, still falling
to soft sand, to hard sea, to longing
for longing, and much less: the broken,
the thunky, the dancing we each did,
the heels down, then toes up, then heels down,
the rocking, the forward and, yes, back—
its measure so awkward, the sad dance
we each did, remember, remember?

It Wants to Come

ba-da-bap-bah, ba-da-bap-bah
ba-da-bap-bah, ba-da-bap-bah
It wants to come, but it doesn’t come
I wanna go, but I never go
He wants to sing, but it doesn’t sing
They want to play, but they never play
She wants to dance, but she doesn’t dance
You wanna grow but you don’t grow
Every morning, the sun says
I know just what I’m doing here
What are you doing here little girl?
Most days I don’t know
But some days I’m like,
I know just what to do and I’m perfect
I know just what to do and I’m perfect
I know just what to do and I’m perfect
It wants to come, but it doesn’t come
I wanna go, but I never go
He wants to sing, but it doesn’t sing
They want to play, but they never play
She wants to dance, but she doesn’t dance
You wanna grow but you don’t grow -------
It wants to come, but it doesn’t come
She wants to climb, but she’s afraid of falling
She wants to jump, but she doesn’t jump
He wants to swim, but he’s afraid of water
They want to love, but they’re afraid of breaking hearts
They want to love, but they’re afraid of breaking hearts
They want to love, but they’re afraid of breaking hearts
He wants to cry, but he hasn’t cried in three years
I know just what to do and I’m perfect
I know just what to do and I’m perfect
I know just what to do and I’m perfect
I know just what to do and I’m perfect ……

My life flows on in endless song;
Above earth's lamentations,
I hear the real, tho' far-off hymn
That hails a new creation;
Through all the tumult and the strife
I hear its music ringing;
It sounds an echo in my soul—
How can I keep from singing?
Although the tempest loudly roars,
I hear the truth, it liveth.
But though the darkness 'round me close,
Songs in the night it giveth.
No storm can shake my inmost calm
While to that rock I'm clinging;
Since love is lord of heaven and earth,
How can I keep from singing?
Der shturem voyet af a hoykhn kol
Dem emes her ikh lebn
Di finsternish krikht lebn mir
Mir hern zayn gezang
Der shturem nemt nisht tsu mayn ru
Vayl libe koyles klingen
In meyn neshome her ikh zey
Ikh her nisht of tsu zingen
When tyrants tremble, sick with fear,
And hear their death-knell ringing,
When friends rejoice both far and near,
How can I keep from singing?
In prison cell and dungeon vile,
Our thoughts to them are winging;
When friends by shame are undefiled,
How can I keep from singing?

Tapuach Chinani

A tree bends and leans
he tender wind, she pets its head
and kisses its leaves
There, in the trees
My lovely one, she picked an apple
her laugh is ivory
Oh, If I were a tree and she the wind
She’d be kissing me
And she’d pick a graceful apple, little me
Oh, and when the sun will set
I’ll raise my voice to thee
Lovely one, come down to my garden and walk with me

Golden Wings

Driving West
and I feel the trees grow less
When the winter comes, they lose their leaves
When the winter comes, I lose my easy way of being in the summertime
Thunderstorms don’t get me down the way bad dreams do
I woke up this morning with clouds around my bed
2 AM, and I wonder where I am
When the lights are out and no one’s home
When the lights are out I feel me goin’ somewhere that I don’t belong
Morning light don’t always work the way it should
Sun is rising, still I feel I’m in the dark
But golden wings will carry me home today
Golden wings will carry me home
Golden wings will carry me home today
Golden wings will carry me...carry, carry…carry me home
She said, wait
I think I know the way you feel
Don’t forget to breathe, you must let go
Feeling heartache is just part of knowin’ what your heart can do at all
Winter blues will make your toes and fingers red
It’s okay to spend the morning in your bed
But golden wings will carry me home today
Golden wings will carry me home
Golden wings will carry me home today
Golden wings will carry me...carry, carry…carry me home

Conversation With the Soul
The soul said, give me something to look at
So I gave her a farm. She said, it’s too large.
So I gave her a field. The two of us sat down
Sometimes, I would fall in love with a lake, or a pinecone.
But I liked her most - She knew it.
Keep writing, she said. So I did.
Each time the new snow fell
We would be married again
The holy dead sat down by our bed
This went on for years.
This field is getting too small, she said.
Don’t you know anyone else to fall in love with?
What would you have said to her?
